Wordsphere — Virtual Reality Text Input Interface (Introduction)
When we speak about language’s origin, we also discuss the origin of communication itself: a transmitter and a receiver in a process, in which, after certain agreements and intuitions, a system is established for a reproducibility and repeatability of what is understood in the form of a message.
Despite the fact, language is found in nature, both in plants and animals at different levels of complexity. Inphilosophy, the human being has been identified as an animal that has logos or who speaks. As defined by Aristotle, the human being is a “zoon logos ejon”, beyond the fact of consciousness, he was also pointing the distinction of having a language or use words (Conesa and Nubiola, 1999).
When did language begin? Question that has been on minds of intellectuals for centuries, even as Conesa (1999) mentions, in 1866 the Linguistic Society of Paris declared it wanted no more speculative ideas about the origin oflanguage. While for some researchers, language would be a relatively recent phenomenon which emerged 30,000 years ago, others predict it was 60,000 to 200,000 years ago. However, other researchers consider the symbolic capacity of human being must go back up to 2 or 3 million years (Conesa and Nubiola, 1999). In this sense, the point
of communication between the human user and the computer is the human-computer interface. Therefore, the information flow between them is considered the interaction process, which occurs through user input.
